Iowa OPUS Honor Choir
Every year, 5th-9th graders from across the state of Iowa are able to audition for the annual Iowa OPUS Honor Choir. There are four separate ensembles students can audition for: 5th/6th Grade Mixed Choir, 7th/8th Grade Bass Choir, 7th/8th Grade Treble Choir, and a 9th Grade Mixed Choir. In Early August, students prepare audition cuts from two of the repertoire selections being performed if accepted, as well as the tune "My Country 'Tis Of Thee". Students then record these audition cuts and submit them virtually in September. Being accepted into the Iowa OPUS Honor Choir is a huge accomplishment, however the process of learning the music and preparing for the audition is what truly improves a high schooler as a musician and person. 9th Graders are able to audition for both the Iowa OPUS Honor Choirs and Iowa All State Honor Choirs.
